Vacation Rental Policies
Thank you for choosing Island Rentals of Hilton Head as your vacation provider. Below is a list of our basic rental policies.
Payment: A deposit via credit card is required at the time of booking, with the balance due 30 days prior to your arrival date. Second payments may be made by check, e-check, or credit card, however a 3% convenience fee is added to the remaining balance if credit card is used for secondary payment. All reservations that have not paid their balance within 10 days of arrival will have the card on file charged and the 3% fee automatically added. Bookings within 30 days of arrival require payment in full at the time of booking. Age: Guests must be over the age of 21 to book a property with Island Rentals. The party named on the lease must be present at the home for the duration of the rental.
Smoking Policy: All of our units are non-smoking units. Should any guest smoke inside of a unit, a $500 fee will be charged for additional cleaning costs.
Pet Policy: Many of our properties are pet friendly. An additional pet fee is required and varies based on length of stay. We request that all pets are crated when left alone in the property, or that gates are brought to confine pets to proper areas of the home. New environments may cause even the most well-behaved animal to cause damage and act out. Please do not allow pets on any furniture in the property. Pet hair and pet stains are much more time intensive and costly to remove from upholstered furniture, and should the furniture need steam cleaned, additional charges may occur.
Cancellation Policy: Reservations that are canceled more than 30 days prior to the start of your stay will receive a full refund minus the non-refundable Reservation Fee and the sales tax on that fee. No cancellations are allowed 30 days or less prior to your arrival. Travel Insurance is recommended if you feel a situation may occur where you have to cancel within 30 days of the start of your stay. All Reservations made for a duration of 1 month (28 Days) or longer are non refundable. Travel Insurance is highly recommended.
Travel Insurance: Vacation Rental Insurance has been made available with your reservation. Vacation Rental Insurance provides coverage for the loss of prepaid, non-refundable expenses due to certain unforeseeable circumstances that may jeopardize your vacation investment and force you to incur unplanned expenses. Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage is available for events such as a sickness or injury of yourself, family member or traveling companion; flight delays due to adverse weather; interruptions of road service; terrorist acts; and mandatory evacuations. The plan also includes other valuable coverages such as Medical and Dental, Baggage, and Emergency Assistance and Transportation in addition to useful services such as identity theft, concierge and 24/7/365 emergency assistance. We strongly recommend you purchase this valuable protection. Damage: Damage Protection insurance may be purchased and includes up to $3000 worth of coverage for any damages to the property that occur during your stay. We understand that accidents do happen, and encourage you to report any damage, as our ability to repair it before the next rental becomes much more difficult if damage is not disclosed in advance. Housekeeping: Each unit is cleaned after each rental occurs, and all sheets, towels, hand towels, and washcloths are stripped out of the unit and replaced with clean sets. A starter set of amenities, hotel size soaps, shampoo, dish detergent, one roll of paper towels, and two rolls of toilet paper per bathroom are also provided. Please bring your own beach towels, as our bath towels are not permitted to leave the home.
Bicycles: Many of our properties come with bicycles provided by South Beach Bicycle Rentals. These bicycles are left at the property year round and include free maintenance. If your bicycles require service please call the number on the bicycles and South Beach Bicycle Rentals will replace them free of charge. Adult Bicycles only are provided, no substitutions. Additional bicycles may be rented by contacting South Beach Bicycle Rentals at 843-671-2453. A 15% discount on additional rentals will be provided, just mention you are staying with Island Rentals, or if reserving via their website, using coupon code Save15.
Tennis & Pickleball: Some of our properties include free tennis privileges from the South Beach Racquet Club. If your property includes these privileges, it will be specified in the listing. These privileges include 1 free hour of Tennis per day, and 1/2 off of court time for pickleball.
Hurricane & Weather Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued for any situation arising from hurricanes including evacuations without Travel Insurance coverage. No refunds will be given for cancellation or interruption of your stay due to other inclement weather.
Prohibited Vehicles: Trailers, U-hauls, Motor Homes, Motorcycles and/or commercial or recreational vehicles are prohibited in the Plantations on Hilton Head Island. NO watercraft trailers (boats, jet skis, etc.) are allowed into the Plantations without prior arrangements for dry dock and/or boat slip. Parking is not allowed on streets.
Pool Heating: Most pools can be heated, for an additional charge, and will be activated on the day of arrival. Pool heating must be requested at least 2 days prior to arrival for the pool to heat appropriately. There will be no refunds if the pool heat is added last minute and the pool is not up to temperature. Due to the nature of pool heaters, should a pool heater malfunction prior to, or during your stay, a refund of pool heating charges will apply, however no adjustment to the rental rate will be made. Spa jets will NOT operate unless payment has been made for heat. Private pools are cleaned twice a week. In the interim, a skimmer net has been provided. There will be a charge for an extra cleaning. Some villa and complex pools are heated seasonally. However, this is at the discretion of the owner’s association and cannot be guaranteed.
